This policy explains what the Scan & Translate+ app (“the app”) does with your information. “We” and “us” mean Aisberg Inc LLC, the app’s publisher.
1. Photos and the camera
The app reads the text in your photos, scans and camera images on your device whenever it can, using Apple’s Vision framework and Google ML Kit models that run on the phone.
Some photos can’t be read on the phone, for example when the language is set to automatic detection or the phone’s text recognition doesn’t support that language. If you have allowed AI translation (see section 2), the app then sends a reduced copy of the image to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI (an AI service) to read the text. If you haven’t allowed it, the text is read on your phone only.
2. Text you translate (AI translation)
Online translation sends the text you scan or type, and the two languages you picked, to our translation server, which forwards it to OpenAI to translate. If OpenAI is unavailable, the text may be translated by Google Translate (Google Cloud Translation) or Microsoft Translator instead. In mainland China, online translation uses our translation service hosted there instead.
- The app asks for your permission before it sends any text or photo to an online service. You can change your choice at any time in the app’s Settings (“AI translation (online)”).
- If you don’t allow it, text recognition and translation run on your phone with Apple Vision and Google ML Kit offline language files, and your text and photos don’t leave your device.
- Our server doesn’t keep the text or images it forwards. OpenAI doesn’t use data sent through its API to train its models; OpenAI, Google and Microsoft may keep requests for a limited time to prevent abuse, under their own policies: OpenAI, Google, Microsoft.

We don’t sell your personal information.
4. Your choices
- AI translation: turn it on or off in Settings at any time.
- Tracking: iOS asks before any app tracks you; you can change it in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Ads consent (where required): shown in the app’s consent form.
- Camera and location: allow or deny them when the app asks, or later in iOS Settings.
- Access or deletion: email us (below) to ask for a copy of, or the deletion of, information linked to your app user ID. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device.
5. How long we keep information
Paywall and purchase event logs are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. We don’t store the text you translate or your photos.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
7. International transfers
Our servers and the providers above may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live.
8. Terms of use
Your use of the app is governed by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
